Who’s following Bill Bellamy on Instagram?! He recently posted a picture of what seems to be a new marketing poster for the movie The Brothers. He posted the picture asking fans… “THE BROTHERS 2 THE BOYS ARE BACK!! You ready??”
Bill Bellamy is pictured alongside co-stars Shemar Moore, Morris Chestnut and D.L. Hughley. The romantic comedy came out back in 2001, grossing $30 million. The male version of Waiting to Exhale; The Brothers similarly features four good friends who offer each other advice and support as they live their lives and encounter different relationships.
There is no word of who will be directing, distributing etc., but it seems like Bill has confirmed a sequel is in our future!

Marlon Wayans is back on the spoof circuit, this time with a sequel to the successful horror movie parody A Haunted House. The first one debuted at the box office almost exactly a year ago and was surprisingly successful considering it’s relatively low film-making budget. Entertainment Weekly has announced that A Haunted House 2 comes out in March, and a trailer has already been released. This time around, Gabriel Iglesias will join the cast, and returning names will include Essence Atkins, Affion Crockett, and Cedric The Entertainer. With that lineup, it sounds like A Haunted House 2 will be just as funny as the original. Check out the trailer below and see for yourself!

Zoe Saldana, who will be playing the lead role in the Nina Simone movie, is slated to play Davis’ former wife.
NewsOne recently wrote and article on Chicago comedian, Damon Williams. Williams is one of the great “underground” stand-up comedians we follow. He has opened for national tours such as the Royal Comedy Tour and the Kings of Comedy Tour. The Chi-town native has a comedy showcase- performing every first Saturday of the month at Funny First Saturdays.
Williams also hosted Showtime at the Apollo after Steve Harvey in 1999, performed on TBS’s Martin Lawrence Presents: 1st Amendment Stand Up, and performed at many other comedy festivals.
Damon also has a call in spot on the Tom Joyner Morning Show, he jokes on nationalnews updates, his Seriously Ignorant News.
We spotted the article and wanted to take a minute to shine light on Williams’ work. Here’s a clip of Damon from Martin Lawrence Presents: 1st Amendment Stand Up.

Actor, Comedian… Singer, Eddie Murphy is all music man right now. He is currently working on a new album entitled 9, expected to release Spring 2014. “Promise (You Won’t Break My Heart)” will be the second single from the album. According to the media: “9 highlights the range of Murphy’s musical talent, which encompasses a wealth of influences that zips across a wide variety of music genres- making 9 a seamless album filled with fearless creativity and innovation.”
“Promise (You Won’t Break My Heart)” is an R&B soul ballad, very soft and seductive… no joke. It is the second single released from 9 after “Red Light,” a reggae track featuring Snoop Lion. You should start to hear Promise on you R&B radio stations and it will be available on iTunes December 3. Listen to the ballad below:
Weekend Recap: Last weekend we followed up on the SNL diversity controversy and the announcement of actor Kerry Washington as the host of the November 2nd show. Well, if you missed the show, it’s safe to say Kerry killed it.
Below is a Jay Pharoah and Kerry Washington musical skit and the full episode if you don’t want to miss a thing. Also, check out the Associated Press’s recap on the show taking on issue of its own diversity:
I Got Somethin’ To Tell You, the Whoopi Goldberg-directed documentary about the legendary comedian Moms Mabley, will be hitting the small screen this month.
Mabley was a pioneer in the vaudeville comedy world of the 30s and 40s, and also paved the way for women in stand up. Goldberg says, “This documentary will delve into the comedy of Mabley, as well as help define her significance through clips, old photographs, television show appearances and interviews, conducted by me with famous and influential people who either knew and worked with Moms or were inspired by her.”
The interesting part of this is that the documentary was aided financially through the crowd-funding website Kickstarter. So fans had the opportunity to have a part in funding it and being a part of its creation.
The documentary premieres on Monday, November 18 on HBO at 9 PM EST.
As Katt Williams’ national “Katt Is Back Tour” continues to route, even the press has a new prospective on the comic. From his early morning phone interview with a local Milwaukee journalist t this week, there are nothing but great things to say about the comedian’s comeback. This great article on Katt is yet another reason why we believe Katt is back and here to continue his comedian legacy as one of the greats. Check out the full article on Katt (on coming to town to perform at the U.S. Cellular Arena) by the Milwaukee journalist for JSOnline:
Maybe it’s the early morning timing of the phone interview, but wild and vulgar comedian Katt Williams doesn’t sound like the reckless, arrogant provocateur he was regularly portrayed as in the news last year following a series of arrests and bad behavior.
He’s soft-spoken, introspective, even a bit humble. He’s a new man, he insists. A better comedian. And he argues that he deserves your trust, and your patronage at his U.S. Cellular Arena show Friday night, even though a couple shows last year ended abruptly following Williams’ confrontations with audience members. He didn’t even show up to a Seattle gig.
“I did 800 shows without a miss for any reason,” Williams said. “The reason you do so well for 18 years is that if there is a missed date, you are given the opportunity to come back, which is what the fans have presented me with, and I’m grateful.”
Williams said he has a strong fan base in Milwaukee, a town he admires for the Public Market and downtown night life.
But even the most loyal fans had to wonder what the heck was going on. There had been altercations and arrests before, but last year Williams, a fast-rising comic compared to the likes of Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor, seemed to hit a new low. There were arrests in November and December related to an alleged police chase and allegations of hitting a man in the head with a bottle. Last November he was also sued for $5 million on allegations of punching his female assistant.
This year, however, Williams has been on his best behavior, or at least out of the news for his behavior, as he tries to stage a comedy comeback.
After all the craziness, Williams said he turned to his fans, his management company and God for guidance. He rebooted his style of comedy to be more self-reflective and to truthfully address what happened last year. And through that, he said, he’s grown.
“Anger is no good for comedy. It’s an oxymoron,” Williams said. “You have to fix what your reaction is as opposed to the reactions that had been going on….The true mark of any craft is balance….It’s important that in delivering jokes that you’re in the right frame of mind. – Piet Levy, The Journal Sentinel
As the drama continues between Jay Pharaoh, Kenan Thompson and the SNL producers with the attention on the cast needing more color and diversity (in the female cast particularly);- Kerry Washington preps for this weekend’s show. She will host with musical guest, Eminem, this Saturday, November 2. We wonder if this was a coincidence or if the producers are making efforts to round out the cast as more diverse and starting with the hosts. As no new cast members have been added yet and not too much word from the SNL camp- we wait to see what will become of the very public issue.
In the meantime- tune in to NBC’s Saturday Night Live this week to watch the scandalous Kerry Washington show us her funny side.
And check out the promos below:
Comedy Central network has announced the renewal of popular comedy show Key & Peele. The show is one of the network’s highest-rated series and with the renew will be entering into it’s fourth season. Wanda Sykes sat down with Oprah for a more serious and less comical chat. As a part of ”Oprah’s Next Chapter”, Wanda discussed the trials of being a gay black female comedian in Hollywood. As we reported earlier last week, Jamie Foxx sat down with Men’s Fitness magazine to pretty much talk about… everything. He mentioned his idea of putting together a “supergroup” for an epic track on ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2′ soundtrack. Foxx plays villain Electro in the new Spider-Man movie, has already created a new track, called Chasing Spiders. His track he is working on includes super groupers Rihanna, Slash and Travis Barker. He told Men’s Fitness magazine, “Rihanna will sing the hook, Slash will play the guitar and Travis Barker will play the drums. Fingers crossed.” Foxx also has the video worked out to feature a 60-piece orchestra of comic book super villains and superheroes.
We have a feeling this epic track is in the works and will post as soon as we get wind of more info, but for now we’ll leave you with this…
Don’t miss DL’s premier of “Trust Me, I’m A Game Show Host” on TBS, tonight at 10:30/9:30 C. Not only is DL Hughley the host of his own radio show, but he is also the host of a brand new game show.
“Comedians D.L. Hughley and Michael Ian Black, the hilarious, less-than-trustworthy hosts, each present the contestant with a bizarre and seemingly implausible fact, one of which is true and one of which is not. The contestant then must choose the true fact to be rewarded. Players who prove to be super-human lie detectors go home with a pocketful of cash.”
